Work Description:
Start Date: Immediately RESPONSIBILITIES: To be a vital member of a team of captioners who consistently provide on-time, accurate realtime captioning for broadcasting stations. COMPENSATION: Competitive rates SCHEDULES: Our part-time captioners may choose from a variety of work schedules including options for AM, PM, weekday or weekend hours. HOURS: Part-time captioner positons range in hours from a minimum of 11 hours/month to a maximum of 66 hours/month. This job is perfect if you are looking to supplement your current income, or perhaps you are a stay-at-home mom seeking a part-time position. Qualifications and Requirements for this Typing, Data Entry, Clerical, Admin position:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must demonstrate ability to caption real time local news at a rate of 225wpm with an accuracy rating of 98.5%. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: - Ability to be a team player, able to work within Company’s policies, procedures, and guidelines. - Ability to demonstrate clean, consistent writing skills. - Ability to write conflict-free and use prefixes, suffixes, etc. - Excellent reliability & punctuality. - Commitment to excellence in developing and maintaining superior real-time captioning skills. - Ability to learn and be receptive to suggestions. - Ability to self-motivate and be an independent problem solver. - Computer hardware/software technical knowledge a plus. Remote captioners are required to provide a computer (operating system Windows 2000 or better), a computerized steno machine, court reporter or captioning software (Eclipse/Case Catalyst strongly preferred), three telephone lines (or two lines and a cell phone) and an ISP connection. Caption Colorado provides a monthly allowance to apply to the cost of phone lines and ISP. Caption Colorado provides all modems and audio equipment. The captioner is not responsible for any long distance charges incurred. Work Environment: Our captioners work in a “live” environment that demands reliability and accuracy at all times. Captioners are provided with access to a technical support team to trouble shoot any technical problems that potentially would prohibit them from delivering exceptional customer service. Captioners are afforded the opportunity to work from home and given the opportunity to match their part-time job needs with one of our available part-time schedules. Captioners can choose to be a weekday am captioner, a weekday pm captioner, a weekend captioner, a late night captioner or any combination thereof.
